CITY PLAN SUMMER CLEAROUT'Manchester City are prepared to offload as many as six of the team who helped to secure the Premier League title last season,' writes The Telegraph's Mark Ogden, with Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri among those whose futures are on the line.

Adding to the school of thought that Pellegrini will be kept on, Ogden claims 'senior figures at the club believe the Chilean has been let down by some high‑profile players', adding 'there is now a determination at City to clear out the club's failing big earners and recruit younger and hungrier replacements'.

Toure, Nasri, Edin Dzeko, Gael Clichy, Aleksandar Kolarov and Stevan Jovetic are the six players listed as potential fall guys, with Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne (23), Juventus' Paul Pogba (22), Liverpool's Raheem Sterling (20) and Everton's Ross Barkley (21) said to be on the list of targets to replace the under-performing stars.

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in Toure and Kolarov, while City have apparently received 'numerous enquiries' about Jovetic. They will not, however, consider selling captain Vincent Kompany, Ogden writes.

While the thought of Pogba in blue might cheer up down-in-the-dumps City supporters, they are likely to be less buoyed by the Daily Mirror's claim that Tottenham's improving but still average Danny Rose is a summer target...
UNITED MOVE AHEAD IN INGS RACEThis column still finds it slightly hard to believe the Premier League's top clubs are in fact interested in signing Danny Ings this summer, but the Daily Mail reports Manchester United have become favourites to sign the striker after holding talks with Burnley.

Ings is out of contract at the end of the season, but the Clarets will be due compensation for the 22-year-old so the Mail claims United want to agree a fee with the Clarets now to steal a march on their rivals. That had allegedly been Liverpool's plan, while Manchester City, Tottenham and Real Sociedad are also listed as potential suitors.

United are said to see Ings as a future England international, with Louis van Gaal particularly impressed by his performance against United at Old Trafford in February when he scored in Burnley's 3-1 defeat.
